An Excellence in Partnership Award was given by US Army Corps of Engineers at a ceremony on October 27, 2022.
The ceremony took place on October 27, 2022 at the new Holl’s Trailhead parking lot on Highland Road, Blue Marsh Lake. This award for the Blue Marsh Trail Restoration Program was selected from among 462 community projects with the US Army Corps of Engineers nationwide. Criteria considered for the award were the almost $400,000 raised by BAMBA for the Program, the thousands of volunteer hours contributed from its board of directors, members, and community volunteers, the increase in user visits generated by the project, and overall community benefit. The award ceremony was attended by regional managing Officers of the Corps, and was awarded by the Commanding Colonel.
We also surprised the rangers with the gift of two brand new mountain bikes for their use in patrolling the Blue Marsh property. After the festivities we took several USACE officers for a ride on the new trails and they were very impressed by the trail quality and fun factor.
Thank you to everyone who contributed your time, efforts and resources to make this Program such a success for our community!
